LOIS Professional Library

The Connecticut series of LOIS CD-ROM products is produced by Law Office Information Systems, Inc. Subscribers receive an updated CD library every quarter plus weekly updates through LOIS’ N-Line update service. With a modem of at least 14,400 baud and 10 to 15 MB on a hard drive, weekly electronic updates can be received for the Connecticut database. The new updates to the law are downloaded directly to the PC or network and the only expense is the phone call through the modem to initiate the online update (the phone line connection is to Van Buren, Arkansas). When you install each quarterly updated CD-ROM, the downloaded data from N-Line is automatically deleted freeing up space for the next weekly update. The software included with LOIS allows the updates to be scheduled for a particular day each week and at a particular time on that day so it will not cause an interruption in use. N-Line is already included in the subscription rate. The entire cost is $1080.00 for two years. There are no network charges, regardless of the number of users.

The Connecticut CD-ROM contains more than 200,000 pages of legal information. The sources for the data are official electronic opinions of the Supreme Court and the Appellate Court. Other data is received directly from the official publishers, or the official offices which produce the information.
